Privacy Policy

Effective October 12, 2026 · BerryBox LLC

Alive is an app made by BerryBox LLC ("BerryBox", "we", "us", or "our"). It plans outings for you and adds them to your Google Calendar. This policy explains what Alive collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. We do not sell your data, we do not use advertising or cross-app tracking, and we never train AI models on your personal data.

What Alive collects

  • The details you use to sign in, such as your email address, used to create your account.
  • The preferences you give it: your home address, how you get around, when you are usually free, your budget, your tastes, who you go out with, and how many options you want each week.
  • Limited Google Calendar data, described below.
  • The plans Alive has made for you and any feedback you give on them, so it can avoid repeating itself and get better at choosing.
  • Your device push-notification token, used to tell you when a new week of plans is ready.

How Alive uses Google user data

When you connect Google Calendar, Alive can access only two things:

  • Your busy and free times. Alive does not see the titles, descriptions, locations, or guests of your events.
  • A single calendar it creates in your account, named Alive, and the events on it. Alive can add, update, and remove events only on that calendar, and never changes or deletes events you created.

Alive uses this data only to schedule plans at times you are free and to keep the Alive calendar up to date. Your busy and free times are sent, along with your preferences, to Anthropic's Claude API to research and draft each week's plans; Anthropic processes them only to provide this feature and does not use them to train models. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train generalized AI or machine learning models, and no person at BerryBox reads it unless you ask us to for support, or we must for security or to comply with the law. The credentials that let Alive reach your calendar are encrypted when stored.

Alive's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Where your data is processed

Alive relies on a small number of providers, each acting for us and each with its own privacy practices:

  • Google Cloud, for running Alive's servers and its weekly planning.
  • Google Calendar, to read your busy and free times and manage the Alive calendar.
  • Anthropic (the Claude API), for researching and drafting plans from your preferences and free times. It does not use this data to train models.
  • The US National Weather Service, which receives the approximate coordinates of your home so Alive can plan around the forecast.
  • OpenStreetMap's address lookup, which receives your home address once, and venue addresses each week, to work out distances.
  • Apple, for App Store purchases and subscriptions. We receive no card details from a purchase.
  • Vercel, for hosting this website, which gives us only anonymous, aggregate page-view counts.

Each outing on your Alive calendar includes a Google Maps link with directions from your home address. Anyone you share the Alive calendar with can see it, and opening the link shares those addresses with Google Maps.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your data only while your account is active. You can delete your account from inside the app, in Settings. When you do, we delete your preferences, your plan history, and your Google credentials, and we revoke Alive's access to your Google account. The Alive calendar stays in your Google Calendar for you to keep or delete.

Your rights

  • See and edit what Alive knows about you, in the app.
  • Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Delete your account and its data, in the app in Settings.
  • Disconnect Google Calendar at any time, from your Google Account permissions.

Children

Alive is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. Some outings Alive suggests are for adults 21 and older.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new effective date, and if a future version of Alive changes what it collects, we will update this policy and the app's App Store privacy label before that version ships.
